Over the years working with a variety of organic substrates you begin to develop a deep relationship and understanding of different materials; their qualities, how they work with other materials and their expression. This piece is an outcome of the rigorous exploration of two distinct materials - charcoal and wax. the marriage of these two materials applied with a very specific method developed over time has laid the foundation for many of my works.
